What I'm Focusing On Right Now

In terms of work experience, I am currently looking for an internship for January-April 2024 with an organization that is heavily focused on using emerging technologies to solve important global problems. I really seek to do work that is meaningful to myself and to my greater purpose to serve others and improve the world as a result of my influence. I want to work in an environment that is conducive to my skills/strengths, one that allows me to grow through challenges, one that provides a sense of autonomy and ownership, and one that allows for strong social connections to be formed with co-workers. I want to connect the technical aspects of my engineering knowledge with my acquire business/project management skills to foster innovation and drive meaningful results.

In the mean time, there are a few projects that I am currently working on to develop both my personal and professional skillsets. Some of them are related to my education at the University of Waterloo, some are completely personal projects, and some are neither or a mix of both.

My Ongoing Projects

TEDxUniversity of Waterloo (Mar. 2023 - Present)

As someone who has grown up really enjoying watching TED talks and taking in the wisdom learned from others' decades of experience, I was ecstatic once I heard that the university I attend was going to be hosting its very own TEDx event. I jumped at the opportunity to help organize

C++ Learning and Project-Building (Jan. 2023 - Present)

Another aspect of that same mechanical engineering practice course is learning the basics of programming in C++. While I haven't take any high school computer science courses, I did take some online courses in languages like Python, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML. Since I have a basic understanding of coding syntax and logic from these courses, the transition to C++ hasn't been too bad so far. The course starts from the very beginning in terms of learning the language, and slowly builds upon the basics to create more complex code. We've only done a few small projects so far (ex. converting Fahrenheit to Celsius, solving physics equations using inputted data, etc), but more projects will be made weekly for it.

Industry 4.0 Design Team (Dec. 2022 - Present)

Industry 4.0 as a concept focuses on the application of "smart" machines in society, the forth massive industrial revolution. At the University of Waterloo, this design team focuses on educating youth across Canada about the evolving concepts that are focused on in the Management Engineering program (ex. data analytics, supply chain, optimization, and Internet the Things). As someone who was honestly considering switching to this major but ended up staying in Mechanical Engineering and taking this program as an Option (which is kind of a like a minor), I'm excited to be part of this team and get involved with their work.

Velocity Incubator (Sept. 2022 - Present)

One of the biggest pulls for me to attend the University of Waterloo was the Velocity Incubator. It is a unique space where students passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and solving big, important problems in the world (literally me) can go to work with like-minded students and receive training from those who have already done it. I've really enjoyed taking part in their hackathons, design sprints, innovation training programs, and more so far. This term, I'm planning to get heavily involved with their GreenHouse Social Impact Incubator, which helps develop a community of students focused on developing solutions for social issues around the world.

Content Creation (Apr. 2020 - Present)

Be it about content relating to my projects, sharing something new I learned, or general life reflections and things that come up, making content (on Medium and YouTube especially) has been my way to communicate my thoughts with the world. I have a wide variety of content on each of those platforms, as is clear from my projects, and am continuing to regularly create even more.
